本书选择了大量英汉成语实例进行平行比较研究，对各自成语的来源加以诠释。作者从英汉成语文化内涵的民族性方面加以考虑，经过大量的分析对比，发现它们之间有三种关系：一致关系、相应关系、不相应关系。本书的目的不仅仅是将英汉成语两者之间在起源、历史或文化内涵等方面进行比较，更期望比较文化类同研究在语言学领域有所推广。希望本书能对读者在英汉成语的理解和使用上有所帮助，这种帮助是双向的，既帮助中国人学习和使用英语，也帮助以英语为母语的外国人学习和使用汉语。

赵一鼎，男，1987年生，文学博士。现为山东工商学院外语学院讲师、大学英语教研室副主任，美国莫瑞州立大学档案馆研究助理。主要研究方向：英语教学方法、英语语言测试、第二语言习得、跨语言研究。
