  This Specification specifies the technical requirements for excavation, reinforcement, protection, drainage and monitoring in the construction of hydropower projects, as well as requirements for quality and acceptance criteria and safety control.  This Specification is applicable to slope construction of medium-or Large-sized hydropower projects. This Specification may be referenced for slope construction of other projects.

  3.0.1 Slope  The geologic mass with lateral free surface, consisting of crest,surface, toe and slope within certain depth.  3.0.2 Naturalslope  The slope in natural existence.  3.0.3 Engineeredslope  The artificial slope or the slope affected by engineering works.3.0.4 Rockslope  The slope made ofrocks.  3.0.5 Soilslope  The slope composed of earth, gravels or mixture of soil andsand.  3.0.6 Landslide  A kind of phenomenon that the rock (soil) mass slides under theaction of gravity along certain slip surface or sliding belt.  3.0.7 Bucklingfailure  A form of damage occurred in the layered structure consequentrock slope, also known as sliding-bending failure, the upper rockmass slides along the stratum, causing bending and buckling at thelower part.  3.0.8 Blastingparameters  Factors affecting blasting effect, including blasting medium andexplosive characteristics, cartridge arrangement, diameter and depthof blast hole, charging structure and quantity.  3.0.9 Smoothblasting  A kind of blasting operation in which dense perimeter holes withdecoupling charge or low-strength explosive charge are arrangedalong excavation boundary and are detonated after the initiation ofmain blasting area so as to obtain a smooth profile.  3.0.10 Presplitblasting  A kind of blasting operation in which dense perimeter holesloaded with decoupled charges or low-strength explosive charges arearranged along excavation boundary and are detonated before theinitiation of main blasting area so as to form presplit cracks betweenthe blasting area and the reserved area to minimize the destructiveeffect of main blasting on the reserved rock mass and obtain a smoothprofile.  3.0.11 Anchor tendon (pile)  A support form composed of several rebars and used forreinforcing the rock (soil) mass.  3.0.12 Prestressed anchor cable  An anchorage structure composed of anchor head, high-strengthsteel wires or strands and anchorage assembly and providing activesupporting resistance for the anchor through imposing prestress onthe cable or strand.  3.0.13 Anchoradit  Horizontal or inclined adit along the rock slope or slidingsurface, backfilled with reinforced concrete, to form a concrete plugas a supporting against landslides.  3.0.14 Soilnail  A reinforcement by inserting the grouting steel pipe (or rebar)into the soil slope.  ……
