体育英语阅读教程:2:2:学生用书:Students book 节选

Julia Mancuso Vonn's chief rival since childhood, Mancuso stole a bit of the spotlight from her teammate in Vancouver after taking silver in the downhill and combined. She also took gold in the giant slalom in Torino in 2006. Mancuso became one of the most famous Olympic skiers, though, for her rapport off the slopes. She flat out and claimed her and Vonn tolerate each other but are far from friends and didn't shy away from Internet photos of her groping friends in their bikinis. She was one of the first American skiers to ink a major sponsorship deal when she signed with Chap Stick in the mid-1990s. Tommy noe This crowd-pleaser became the first American male skier to win 2 medals in a single Games when he won gold in the downhill an silver in the super-G at the 1994 Games. Although his technical merit certainly makes him one of the most famous Olympic skiers ever, so does his courage. Toma once asked out German hottie Katarina Witt. Hermann naier The Hermanator won 4 Olympic medals, including 2 gold during his career. The Austrians breed fine alpine skiers but Maier may have been the most physically gifted. He missed the 2002 Games after a nasty leg injury that almost called for amputation, but bounced back in 2006 taking silver and bronze in the super-G and giant slalom, respectively. ……
